IPL 2026: Punjab Kings move quickly to align squad with updated BCCI protocols

Following Saturday’s practice session in Dharamsala, Punjab Kings met with their players to inform them of the BCCI’s new IPL regulations and get signatures attesting to their adherence.

“The CEO will speak to the players after training tonight and read out the guidelines issued by BCCI. There is no player in focus as such. The rules need to be respected and strictly followed,” PTI quoted a team source as saying.

Videos featuring PBKS players will only be created and shared via the franchise’s official social media accounts going forward, it has been learnt.

The development is significant because their India pacer Arshdeep Singh has amassed over six million Instagram followers thanks to his well-liked reels and vlogs, which may have caught the interest of BCCI officials and team managers.

In response to concerns expressed by its Anti-Corruption Unit regarding unauthorized guests in team hotels, excessive player proximity to social media influencers, and content creation in prohibited locations, the BCCI recently issued a severe advice to IPL clubs.

According to the new regulations, visitors will now need written permission from team managers in order to enter players’ and officials’ rooms.

Additionally, franchises have been advised to keep a closer eye on player movements and make sure security procedures are being followed.

Punjab Kings are operating inside the 48-hour window that the BCCI has set forth for franchises to inform players of the new regulations.

On Monday, PBKS, who have 13 points from 10 games and are ranked second in the rankings, will play the Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala.
