
Pat Cummins, the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, was fined for maintaining a sluggish over rate during an IPL match in Ahmedabad versus Gujarat Titans. Cummins received a Rs 12 lakh fine.
“As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Cummins was fined INR 12 lakhs,” the IPL said in a statement.
SRH were crushed by GT by 82 runs. After chasing GT’s 168/5, SRH were dismissed for a pitiful 86 in 14.5 overs.
Former champions Gujarat moved closer to a playoff berth by surpassing Hyderabad and reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru to the top of the 10-team standings.
Gujarat is favored to place in the top two following the league stage with 16 points and eight victories from 12 games.
The top two will get an additional opportunity to advance to the final on May 31 in Ahmedabad. The top four will go to the playoffs.
