IPL 2026: Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad forced into late changes

Ahead of the IPL starting on March 28, Saurabh Dubey and David Payne have been picked by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to replace the injured Akash Deep and Jack Edwards, respectively.

Due to a lumbar stress injury, India’s pacer Akash Deep will not be competing. The medical team of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at the Center of Excellence in Bengaluru will continue to oversee him.

“Saurabh, a left-arm pacer, will replace Akash at KKR. He will join KKR for Rs 30 lakh,” an IPL media advisory stated.

The 28-year-old Vidarbha bowler Saurabh was formerly a member of the SRH team but has not yet made an IPL debut.

Meanwhile, SRH has signed England pacer Payne to replace Jack Edwards, who has been out due to a foot injury. After a bidding battle with Chennai Super Kings, Edwards was previously acquired by SRH for Rs 3 crore.

For Rs 1.5 crore, Payne, who has played in 233 T20 matches and taken 304 wickets while representing England in one ODI, will sign with SRH.
