Pat Cummins to lead Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026

Australia skipper and pace spearhead Pat Cummins was named Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) captain on Monday for the third straight IPL season.

Cummins’ position as captain was verified by SRH using his photos on its ‘X’ handle without providing any information.

Due to a back ailment, Cummins has been formally ruled out of the first Ashes Test in Perth; however, he is anticipated to be fit for the second game in Brisbane.

Australia’s opening Test match against England, which starts on November 21, will be captained by Steven Smith. On December 4, Brisbane will host the second Test.

Following Australia’s victories in the World Test Championship and the 2023 50-over World Cup, Cummins was acquired by the team for an incredible Rs 20.50 crore (Rs 205 million) in the 2024 IPL players auction, and he succeeded South African Aiden Markram as captain of SRH in 2024.

Cummins had previously participated in the IPL with the Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders.
