As they make their last-four debuts at the All England Club, Coco Gauff, Karolina Muchova, Marta Kostyuk, and Linda Noskova are all focused on making it to their first Wimbledon final.
Gauff is the favorite to win the Venus Rosewater Dish awarded to the women’s champion because only the American has ever won a Grand Slam title.
Seventh seed Coco Gauff will face 10th seed Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic, with Gauff holding a commanding 6-1 head-to-head advantage.
Gauff is the top-ranked player remaining in the women’s event and a two-time major winner, but her confused look as she yelled, “How?” towards her coaches following her first-ever Wimbledon semifinal” revealed a very different narrative.
Gauff, who stunned Venus Williams on her Grand Slam debut at Wimbledon at the age of 15, has remained surprisingly uneasy on south-west London’s lawns, missing out on the quarterfinals on her six prior trips.
The American has dominated Muchova, defeating her in both the Australian Open last 16 this year and the 2023 US Open semifinals, with the goal of winning a first Grand Slam since the 2025 French Open.
Muchova, who finished second in the 2023 French Open, is hoping to make it to her second Grand Slam final in her maiden Wimbledon semifinal. However, the 29-year-old, who had lost in the opening round of her four prior Wimbledon visits, is well aware of Gauff’s tenacity.
Ninth seed Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic will take on 12th seed Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine, with Kostyuk holding a 1-0 head-to-head advantage.
Kostyuk defeated former Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini in brutal straight sets to go to her second consecutive Grand Slam semifinal. The 24-year-old was defeated in the opening round at Wimbledon last year and had never advanced past the third round.
However, Kostyuk has won 21 of her previous 22 games, losing only to Mirra Andreeva in the June semifinals of the French Open. As recently as April, she was only ranked 28th in the world, but next week she is expected to make her career debut in the top 10.
Noskova, who defeated Belgian 25th seed Elise Mertens in straight sets to get to her maiden Wimbledon semifinal, will be put to the test against the fiery Kostyuk.
After her success at the 2024 Australian Open, Noskova secured a spot in the Grand Slam final four for the first time in just her second Grand Slam quarterfinal.
Since Jelena Ostapenko in 2018, the 21-year-old is the youngest Wimbledon semifinalist. Noskova won her maiden grass-court championship at the Berlin Open prior to Wimbledon.
After defeating Madison Keys, the previous Australian Open winner, in the round of 16 and then Mertens, she carried that outstanding form into the All England Club.
