
Flamboyant wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was dropped from the ODI lineup for the subsequent three-match series against Afghanistan and dismissed as vice-captain of the Indian Test team for the forthcoming one-off match.
Pant was replaced as vice-captain of Shubman Gill’s Indian Test team by KL Rahul. Senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been rested for the Test match.
To finalize India’s squads for the home match against Afghanistan, the BCCI senior men’s selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, convened in Guwahati.
Manav Suthar, a spin bowler, and Gurnoor Brar, a pacer, have been called up to the Test team for the first time. Ishan Kishan is the second wicket-keeper, Prince Yadav is the new face in the ODI lineup, and both are teammates at the Gujarat Titans IPL side.
The assignments include a one-off Test in Mullanpur beginning on June 6 and three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in Dharamsala, Lucknow, and Chennai commencing on June 14.
