The Haryana Steelers defeated the Gujarat Giants 50-32 in Delhi’s Thyagaraj Stadium to secure their playoff berth. As a result, the Jaipur Pink Panthers also earned a playoff berth.
The reigning champions put on a strong show, with Shivam Patare and Vinay recording Super 10s. With his 16 raid points that evening, the former also accumulated 400 raid points in the PKL. Himanshu Singh made an impressive Super 10 for the Gujarat Giants, but it was in vain.
With Vinay opening the score and Jaideep making a tackle, the Haryana Steelers got the game off to a strong start. However, the Gujarat Giants remained resilient as Himanshu Singh caused some damage and Nitin Panwar recorded a tackle. Rakesh Sungroya also scored, and the Giants applied pressure to their opponents with an ALL OUT after a tackle by Lucky Sharma.
Shivam Patare’s efforts on both ends of the mat allowed the reigning champions to quickly cut the four-point lead. Consequently, at the end of the first quarter, the two teams were deadlocked at 10-10. With Hardeep and Shivam Patare carrying out their duties on both ends of the mat, they capitalized on that momentum.
They took a four-point advantage as Rahul’s tackle helped them record their first ALL OUT. Mohammadreza Shadloui made a handful of tackles to help the Gujarat Giants stay within striking distance. At halftime, though, Manpreet Singh’s squad had a rather comfortable 21–15 lead.
The second half began slowly, with Sahil Narwal and Lucky Sharma exchanging tackles as the pace dropped. Before the former finished his Super 10 to increase his team’s lead to ten points, Shivam Patare and Ankit Dahiya each carried out their own Do-Or-Die Raids.
With 10 minutes remaining, the Gujarat Giants were still in the game due to Ankit Dahiya’s Super Raid, which enabled them cut the deficit to seven points. But Neeraj’s tackle delivered the game-ending blow, giving the Giants another ALL OUT. Vinay then put the victory beyond any doubt with his four-point Super Raid, giving the Steelers a 39-26 lead.
Himanshu Singh, who fought to the very end for the Giants, and the raider both earned Super 10. With the score at 40-30, he briefly reduced it to a ten-point contest, but the Haryana Steelers were still in complete control. With a decisive 50-32 victory to secure their spot in the playoffs, they effectively ended the game.
