PCB turns to Shan Masood for key administrative role alongside Test captaincy

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a surprise decision by asking Test skipper Shan Masood to serve as the new head of international cricket operations and for the time being, he will also continue to lead the team in the WTC cycle.

Following board deliberations, a source stated on Friday that there was clear agreement that Shan is the most qualified individual to head the department responsible for international cricket issues.

According to the source, Shan is currently the front-runner for this position, which was just announced by the board and has a November 2 application deadline.

“For the time being whenever he takes over as director he will continue to play cricket, but apparently, he has also shown his interest in the position as he meets all the criteria for the position and in the advertisement,” the source said.

Misbah ul Haq, the former captain and head coach, was mentioned as a potential candidate for the position, but his already demanding schedule prevented him from expressing interest.
