Jofra Archer returns as England name ODI squad for India series

Fast bowler Josh Tongue and uncapped all-rounder James Coles were picked on Friday in England’s 16-man squad that will play India in a three-match ODI series later this month.

Currently playing a five-match Twenty20 International series, India and England will play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) on July 14, 16, and 19 in Birmingham, Cardiff, and Lord’s, respectively.

In addition, seamers Gus Atkinson and 29-year-old Saqib Mahmood were included in England’s team to play an almost full-strength India.

The England team also includes pace spearhead Jofra Archer, who will play ODI cricket for the first time since November 2025.

Former India skipper Rohit Sharma and star fast bowler Jasprit Burmah are slated to feature in the series, with Virat Kohli’s availability depending upon his fitness.

England Squad: Harry Brook (Captain), Tom Banton (Wicketkeeper), Jacob Bethell, Joe Root, Ben Duckett, Jos Buttler (Wicketkeeper), Will Jacks, Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, James Coles, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Saqib Mahmood, Adil Rashid, Josh Tongue
