IPL 2026: Rishabh Pant fined Rs 12 lakh after LSG’s slow over-rate against CSK

Rishabh Pant, the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, was fined Rs 12 lakh for his team’s slow over-rate during their IPL match against the Chennai Super Kings.

On Friday, LSG defeated CSK by seven wickets in Lucknow.

“As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Rishabh Pant was fined INR 12 lakhs,” an IPL media release stated.

Lucknow Super Giants’ victory was built on a punishing 90 from Australian opener Mitchell Marsh, who missed out on a second IPL century in three innings.

In his 38-ball blitz in Lucknow, Marsh, who had hit 111 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru last Thursday, hammered nine fours and seven sixes as the home team defeated Chennai’s 187-5, which was based on a smooth 71 from Kartik Sharma and a spectacular finish from Shivam Dube, whose undefeated 32 came off 16 deliveries.

“Nice to get a win, few and far in between for us this season. Josh Inglis takes the pressure off me. Having grown up together playing for Western Australia, we know each other well and it was a good partnership tonight, AFP quoted Marsh, the player of the match, as saying.

Lucknow, who have already been eliminated from the playoff contention, were still at the bottom of the standings, despite their fourth victory.
