Yashasvi Jaiswal has been with the Rajasthan Royals since 2020 and has turned up for the franchise in 82 matches, scoring 2592 runs. But former India batter Ambati Rayudu feels Jaiswal has been overshadowed after the arrival of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
Rayudu said Jaiswal can be a match-winner in any other team and should look to leave the Royals. This season, Jaiswal has been happy playing second fiddle to the 15-year-old, who is currently the Orange Cap holder with 680 runs.
Jaiswal hasn’t fared that bad either and has scored 426 runs from 15 matches, also leading RR on two occasions in the absence of their regular skipper Riyan Parag.
“He needs to change his team. Because he cannot just bat with the guy and be overshadowed every single time. He’s a star in his own right. If he goes to another team, he will win matches on his own. He needs that space and that platform. Because this guy will keep overshadowing people, it has to be a senior partner alongside him who can deal with it and be happy for him. Be happy for what is happening and not compete with the non-striker,” Rayudu said on ESPNCricinfo.
If Jaiswal goes to the auction pool, other franchises would be keen to have him in their dugout. Rayudu believes with Rohit Sharma in his final leg of his career, Mumbai Indians would be an ideal team for Jaiswal.
“Mumbai Indians is a good team for Jaiswal,” said Rayudu.
