Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has a distinctive bowling action that prevents batters from settling into a rhythm, according to Aaqib Javed, Pakistan cricket’s senior selector and former pacer, who made an odd comparison between the Indian and Usman Tariq, the mystery spinner who played in the recent T20 World Cup.
In the World Cup, which was recently co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, Usman was predicted to torment opposition batters. However, the Pakistani spinner had a relatively quiet competition as the team was eliminated in the Super Eights round and did not advance to the semifinals.
On the other hand, India’s bowling mainstay Bumrah was crucial to the team’s victory, especially in the semifinal and final.
In an attempt to justify Usman’s poor performance, Aaqib stated, “You look at this entire T20 World Cup — there is only one bowler, Bumrah, who is also now going for runs. Because he doesn’t have a normal action and has a different bowling action, he doesn’t allow batters to gain rhythm or get into a flow. I would say he is fast bowling’s Usman Tariq.”
Cricket fans reacted negatively to Aaqib’s comments on social media, with many making fun of the connection between Bumrah and Usman.
One fan highlighted the significant disparity in experience and accomplishments between Bumrah and Usman, stating that it was challenging to compare a spinner and a quick bowler.
Usman has appeared in just nine T20 Internationals and claimed 18 wickets, compared to Bumrah’s 95 appearances and 121 wickets.
