PKL: Bengal Warriorz script dramatic turnaround to beat UP Yoddhas 41-37

The Bengal Warriorz pulled off an incredible comeback to defeat the UP Yoddhas 41-37 at SMS Indoor Stadium in Jaipur on Tuesday. Following four consecutive defeats, the Season 7 PKL champions achieved a significant win, helped along by Ashish’s High Five and captain Devank Dalal’s sixth consecutive Super 10.

Guman Singh launched a successful initial raid, giving the Yoddhas a head start. Devank’s raid gave the Bengal Warriorz a rapid response and tied the score, but the Yoddhas soon took the lead again.

Particularly in the first ten minutes, the Yoddhas’ defense shown excellent cooperation as they continuously halted the Warriorz’ raids and kept the game under control. They extended their lead to 10-4 by inflicting an ALL OUT, demonstrating the effectiveness of their defensive measures. The UP Yoddhas had established a comfortable lead, 12–5, and were maintaining a tight hold on the Bengal Warriorz by the time the first Time Out was called.

The Warriorz mounted a brief comeback to trim the score to five points at the start of the second quarter. But with calm raids from Guman and a strong defense led by Ashu Singh and Hitesh, the Yoddhas swiftly reclaimed the initiative and increased their lead to 15-9.

The Warriorz then cut the deficit to 12-16 with two vital points, one from a Bonus Point and the other from a successful raid by Devank. In spite of this pressure, the Yoddhas remained composed and held their lead, leading 18–13 at the half.

Quick points were scored by the Bengal Warriorz to trim the lead to 15–18 in the first half. But the Yoddhas reacted quickly, and their defense came through once more to give them a point and get back on track.

The Warriorz defense remained vigilant and put in a lot of effort to repel, but the UP Yoddhas continued to exploit holes and gradually increased their lead. The Yoddhas had increased their lead to 25–22 by the time the second half Time-Out was announced.

With Devank securing a vital raid point, the Bengal Warriorz delivered an ALL OUT and jumped ahead 26–25, signaling a significant change in momentum. However, Gagan Gowda’s successful raid soon brought the score level for the UP Yoddhas.

After that, the Warriorz reinforced their hold on the competition. While Devank maintained his exceptional play and recorded yet another Super 10 — his sixth in as many games this season — Ashish finished his High Five.

The game remained close as it went into the last three minutes, with the Warriorz ahead by a slim margin of 34–33. With fewer than two minutes left, they extended their lead to 38-34 after delivering a last blow with another ALL OUT. The Warriorz managed to maintain their poise in the final seconds and win by four points after a fierce battle.
