T20 World Cup-winning captain Suryakumar Yadav believes that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is at the beginning of what looks to be a “very exciting” journey in international cricket. Yadav also supported the cricket phenom to make India proud.
When the 15-year-old from Bihar made his debut in the second Twenty20 International against England at Old Trafford, he surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut at the age of 16, to become the youngest player to represent India.
“I am very happy for the team. I wish them nothing but the very best, always. I know the boys are giving their all and they will always have my full support,” Suryakumar wrote on social media.
“A special word for Vaibhav – you are at the start of what promises to be a very exciting journey. Enjoy every moment and keep making the country proud,” he added.
After leading the Indian team to a home World Cup victory earlier this year, Suryakumar was dropped from the squad. He was replaced as captain by Shreyas Iyer.
One of the primary causes of Suryakumar’s exclusion was a protracted period of poor performance with the bat in international cricket.
Additionally, Suryakumar criticized “false” claims made about him on social media.
”I’ve also noticed a statement being circulated online that has been falsely attributed to me. I want to make it clear that I have not made or authorized any such statement. Please don’t believe or share unverified information,” he said.
”My support for Indian cricket, my teammates, and the game will always speak louder than words falsely attributed to me.”
