India to tour Sri Lanka for two-Test series in August

Sri Lanka Cricket announced on Thursday that India’s two-Test series against hosts Sri Lanka will take place in Galle and Colombo from August 15 to 27.

The series is a component of the World Test Championship. According to a release from Sri Lanka Cricket, the first Test will take place at the Galle International Stadium on August 15 and the Test second is scheduled to be played at the SSC on August 23.

Sri Lanka is now ranked sixth, and India, who have advanced to two finals but have never won the WTC title, is currently ranked fifth.

In November and December of this year, India will travel to New Zealand for a two-match Test series.

Before winning the home series against the West Indies, India had started the Shubman Gill captaincy reign with an impressive 2-2 draw in England.

But last year, South Africa easily defeated the formidable hosts at home, casting doubt on the batters’ ability to play spin.

The Indian batsmen will face yet another formidable challenge from Sri Lankan spinners in their own country.

India last visited Sri Lanka for a Test series in 2017 and won 3-0.
