
Medak Falcons defeated Warangal Warriors by three wickets in the TG20 in Hyderabad thanks to an undefeated 136 off 56 balls from India T20 vice-captain Tilak Varma, who warmed up for the forthcoming away T20I series against Ireland and England.
Tilak got off to a fast start to help the Falcons maintain the necessary run rate as they struck fifty in the fourth over while chasing a massive 259. Tilak helped his team surpass the 100-run marl in eight overs with his fifty in 22 balls.
Tilak reached his century off 42 balls and had a 58-run partnership with Vikram to keep the Falcons alive when 65 runs were required from the final five overs. With 20 runs required from 12 balls, Vikram (27) was dismissed in the penultimate over.
However, Tilak stood tall to lead his team home after hitting 14 fours and 8 sixes.
Aman Rao Perala, the captain of the Warriors and a young batsman from Hyderabad, set the tone for the high-scoring match earlier with his brilliant 32-ball century, reaching 142 in 48 balls to assist his team reach a difficult total of 259.
Tilak will only participate in this tournament match because he will shortly go to Ireland to join the India team in preparation for the T20 series, which begins on June 26.
