In all three of the game’s formats, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has implemented a new central contracting system for its players, with contracts now awarded based on specialized categories.
Red ball specialists will be included in Track A under the PCB’s new structure, which replaces the traditional A, B, C, and D divisions. Only T20 and franchise cricket experts will be on Track D, while white ball ODI and T20 players will be on Track B and C.
At a media briefing, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and white-ball head coach Mike Hesson stated that the focus has been on enhancing the financial rewards for players who are solely in the red-ball category so they don’t feel disadvantaged.
In order to meet the demands of contemporary cricket, Naqvi added, the contracts were developed after extensive deliberation. He claimed that each player would now have a defined path within his category and would understand what was expected of him.
“The players contracts would only be renewed if they come up to all required performance and fitness standards,” he said.
Additionally, the PCB chief stated that all selections will now be based 85% on data analysis and 15% on national selectors’ recommendations in order to guarantee total openness and merit in selection processes and added that this was in order to make sure that no worthy player was overlooked.
