BCCI hikes sponsorship rates for Team India jersey

The BCCI has increased the cost of sponsoring the Indian cricket team to Rs 1.5 crore for a game in a multilateral event and Rs 3.5 crore per match for a bilateral series.

These numbers will be applicable in tournaments that are approved and run by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the International Cricket Council (ICC), according to Cricbuzz.

According to the report, which cited industry sources, these numbers are somewhat greater than the current rates of Rs 1.12 crore for international matches and Rs 3.17 crore for bilateral games.

This follows Dream11’s decision to no longer sponsor jerseys, which was brought on by the government’s Online Gaming Act of 2025. The BCCI swiftly terminated the agreement with Dream11, the primary sponsor of the Indian squad, in response to the government’s new Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025.

The BCCI could possibly collect over 400 crore rupees with this modification, which won’t take effect until after the conclusion of the upcoming Asia Cup. However, the final amount could be greater based on the outcome of the bidding.

Following the withdrawal of fantasy sports behemoth Dream11, the BCCI on Tuesday requested bids for the Indian team’s championship sponsorship rights and excluded businesses that deal in real money gaming and cryptocurrency from the process because of a government prohibition on such organizations.

Since the Board has set September 16 as the deadline for bids, the Indian team will not have a title sponsor for the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates beginning on September 9.

Dream 11 closed its real money games because of the ‘Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025’. This law says “no person shall offer any, aid, abet, induce, indulge, engage in offering online money gaming services nor shall involve in any advertisement which directly or indirectly promotes any person to play any online money game”.
