All-rounder Jamie Overton of the Chennai Super Kings will travel to the UK from the 2026 Indian Premier League to evaluate the severity of a right thigh injury, the team stated on Wednesday. Overton, who has taken 14 wickets and scored 136 runs in 10 IPL 2026 games, has been a key player for CSK.
“Jamie Overton has a right thigh injury and will be returning to the UK for further assessment and management,” CSK said on social media.
The 32-year-old England all-rounder’s injury is the latest in a long list of players who have either been unable to participate in the competition or have been sidelined midway through their campaign.
The injured Maharashtra all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh will be replaced by Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Noronha, according to a Wednesday announcement from CSK.
The five-time champions have been without their former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and midway through the season, CSK lost top-order batsman Ayush Mhatre and seamer Khaleel Ahmed to injuries.
Additionally, two of the team’s overseas players—Australian Spencer Johnson and Nathan Ellis—have not been available at any point this season.
Dian Forrester, a South African all-rounder, was brought in by CSK to replace Overton. Forrester will join CSK for Rs 75 lakh, the IPL announced in a statement on Thursday.
Forrester made his debut for South Africa against New Zealand in March of this year. Since then, he has played in five international matches and amassed 83 runs.
