Why Suryakumar Yadav wants Australia in T20 World Cup final

He was a member of Rohit Sharma’s amazing team that won ten straight games in the 2023 ODI World Cup before losing to Australia in the final in Ahmedabad. Now, captain Suryakumar Yadav wants to play them in the T20 showpiece’s title match at the same venue next year.

Australia, together with Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe, and Oman, was assigned to Group B for the 2026 T20 World Cup, while defending champions India were named in Group A alongside Pakistan, the USA, the Netherlands, and Namibia on Tuesday.

After that final on November 19, 2023, India has defeated Australia in two games, but the players who have subsequently won two ICC events still hope to defeat them in a summit clash.

Before defeating Australia by four wickets in the Champions Trophy quarterfinal this year, India defeated them by 24 runs in the last T20 World Cup Super Eight encounter.

Suryakumar said, “Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Australia,” in response to the question of which team he would like to play in a hypothetical final match in the T20 World Cup the next year.

Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the India Women’s team, who had also defeated Australia in the World Cup semifinal on their way to winning the title, seconded him.

She stated, “Australia are the only side whom we want to beat because that’s the game which stays with you,” during a Mumbai event announcing the T20 World Cup schedule and venues.
