Indian batting stalwart Virat Kohli surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar as the fastest player to amass 16,000 runs in List A cricket in his 330th innings in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
It had taken Tendulkar 391 innings to reach the milestone.
At the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, the 37-year-old Kohli made an impact during his team Delhi’s first Vijay Hazare match against Andhra.
After 10,000 runs, Kohli is now the fastest player to reach each block of 1000 List A runs.
Virat went on to reach his hundred off 82 balls.
After a 15-year hiatus, Kohli is competing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, but the former captain of India has an outstanding record.
With four hundreds and three fifties, he has amassed 819 runs from 13 games at an average of 68.25 and a strike rate of 106 in the top domestic one-day competition.
After retiring from the Test and T20 International formats, Kohli’s next assignment for India is anticipated to be the home ODI series against New Zealand, which starts on January 11.
