Virat Kohli falls for 77 against Gujarat, misses second straight Vijay Hazare hundred

Star Indian batsman Virat Kohli was removed for 77 (61) against Gujarat on Friday, at the BCCI Center of Excellence Ground 1 in Bengaluru, missing out on his second consecutive century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26. Kohli entered the game fresh off a strong century against Andhra in the opening match.

After CT Gaja removed opener Priyansh Arya in just the second over, Kohli made his way to the crease early. It didn’t take Kohli long to settle in, as he began his innings with a barrage of boundaries and flashed his willow everywhere. With a strike rate of more than 190, he shot into the 30s in just 16 balls.

While Arpit Rana labored at the other end, Kohli reached his half-century in just 29 deliveries. But Kohli was forced to bide his time at the crease while wickets fell at the other end, with Arpit (10) and Nitish Rana (12 off 22) leaving cheaply.

Delhi needed Kohli to stay at the crease and anchor the innings, and the Indian stalwart had to slow down after reaching his fifty. His innings ended when CT Gaja took his wicket, dismissing him for 77 (61).

During his thrilling knock, Kohli hit 13 fours and a six, captivating everyone on the pitch.
