But within an hour of the game starting, a 14-year-old prodigy named Vaibhav Suryavanshi stole the show when he hit a 36-ball century for Bihar versus Arunachal Pradesh. On the list of the fastest hundreds in List A cricket, he overtook Shahid Afridi, who in 1996 scored a century off 37 balls in an ODI against Sri Lanka.
Overall, Vaibhav equalled Corey Anderson for the fourth-fastest century in One-Day cricket history. This is the second-fastest List A century among Indian cricketers, behind Anmolpreet Singh, who scored for Punjab against Arunachal Pradesh in just 35 balls the previous season.
In this regard, Suryavanshi outperformed Yusuf Pathan, who had produced a 40-ball century for Baroda against Maharashtra in 2010. The other batters on this list are Urvil Patel and Abhishek Sharma, who scored 41 and 42-ball tons for their teams, respectively.
