T20 World Cup: When cricket heavyweights Rohit Sharma, Jay Shah watched India-Pakistan blockbuster

A number of well-known personalities and officials flocked to Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium on Sunday night to see the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Former India captain Rohit Sharma, who is presently the brand ambassador for the International Cricket Council event, was one of the important guests. Before the highly anticipated match, Rohit spent time with the Indian team and gave them words of support.

Jay Shah, the chairman of the ICC, was also at the venue and was spotted watching the match.

Jay Shah also posted on his social media handle about watching the match with Rohit: “Fantastic atmosphere in Colombo with ICC Men’s #T20WorldCup ambassador @ImRo45 in attendance, giving cricket fans a thrill as he promotes this great tournament globally on TV and social media.”

The significance of the match was further highlighted by the presence of senior representatives from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, including IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal, president Mithun Manhas, secretary Devajit Saikia, and vice president Rajeev Shukla.

Among the high-profile individuals in attendance for one of cricket’s most anticipated rivalries was Mohsin Naqvi, head of the Pakistan Cricket Board, representing Pakistan.

Talking about the match, India defeated Pakistan by 61 runs to secure their place in the tournament’s Super Eights round.

PCB chairman Naqvi didn’t sit through the entire match as the Pakistan innings collapse chasing the target prompted him to leave the venue while the match was still in progress.
