Tristan Stubbs was not out at 34 off 19 and David Miller hammered an undefeated 39 off 23 balls as they concluded the Group D match with an undefeated stand of 75 in 6.1 overs.

After Canada won the toss and chose to field, Quinton de Kock and skipper Aiden Markram gave South Africa a strong start scoring 70 runs between them in 6.5 overs.

Dilpreet Bajwa bowled a dipping off-spinner to De Kock, who was the first to fall, for 25. After hitting 10 fours and a six, Markram cruised on and reached his fifty off 28 balls before being caught in the deep and going down for 59.

Left-arm wrist-spinner Anish Patel got rid of Dewald Brevis for 6 and Ryan Rickelton for a quick 33 off 21 balls. Before Miller and Stubbs took over, Patel reduced South Africa from 125-1 to 138-4 with 3-31 off his four overs.
