T20 World Cup: Four Indians named in ICC Team of the Tournament

After their team won a record third title, four Indians were picked in the ICC’s Team of 2026 T20 World Cup: Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and Hardik Pandya.

Following the opener’s 321 runs in just five innings, Player of the Tournament Samson leads the winning quartet.

Samson began the tournament outside the Indian playing XI, but he excelled with Player of the Match performances against England and the West Indies. On Sunday, he scored 89 against New Zealand, the highest individual score in a Men’s T20 World Cup final.

With a massive strike rate of 193.29, Kishan’s contributions throughout the top order sustained India’s batting performances, scoring 317 runs, the fourth most of any player.

Before settling in at number three with significant knocks against England and New Zealand, including a half-century in the final, he struck a brilliant 77 as an opener against Pakistan.

Pandya, an all-rounder acknowledged for his bat and ball contributions, is the third batter from India to be named. In addition to taking nine wickets overall, he struck two half-centuries with the bat and had devastating periods when it mattered, such as 52 off 28 against Namibia.

Bumrah is the fourth Indian on the team, and his outstanding bowling skills earned him the title of Player of the Match in the championship game.

With 14 wickets from eight games, Bumrah finished as the tournament’s equal top scorer. Throughout the competition, he had an economy of 6.21 and finished with figures of 4/15 in the final.

Sahibzada Farhan of Pakistan, who ended as the tournament’s best run scorer with an aggregate of 383, is also at the top of the order. It averaged 76.60 and featured two hundreds against Namibia and Sri Lanka.
