
After winning the men’s T20 World Cup at home, champions India received USD 2,639,423 (about Rs 25 crore), the largest portion of the prize money pool. The ICC announced on Wednesday that a record USD 11.25 million players’ prize fund had been distributed.
India won their second consecutive trophy after defeating New Zealand by a commanding 96 runs.
The overall purse is a reflection of the substantial increase in ICC event prize money that was implemented in 2024 with the goal of increasing player financial benefits and promoting cricket’s worldwide expansion.
The semi-finalists South Africa and England won INR 9.24 crore and USD 8.96 crore, respectively, while the New Zealand national cricket team, who finished second, earned USD 1,422,692 (about Rs 13 crore).
The Pakistan squad, which played all of its games in Sri Lanka, received USD 522,692, while the West Indies cricket team received USD 538,269, among other top finishers.
The national cricket team of Zimbabwe received USD 491,538, while Sri Lanka received USD 475,962, further down the allocation list.
Each of the three teams—Afghanistan, Australia, and the United States—that were eliminated at the Super 8s stage received USD 309,808. Ireland received USD 271,731, while Scotland received USD 278,654.
Four further teams were awarded USD 256,154 each: Italy, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, and Nepal. Lastly, USD 225,000 was given to Canada, Namibia, and Oman each.
The allocation of prize money, according to the ICC, demonstrates the organization’s continuous efforts to boost players’ financial incentives and bolster the growth of cricket in all of its member countries that participate in international competitions.
