T20 World Cup: Australia to fine-tune plans with three games in Pakistan

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday that Australia will play three Twenty20 Internationals in Lahore before the ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

Before both sides depart for the major event, Australia will play day-night games at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on January 29, 31, and February 1.

Pakistan will play their games in Sri Lanka, while Australia will play their World Cup group matches in India.

This will be Australia’s first T20 tour of Pakistan since April 2022, when they last visited the country for a Test series followed by a white-ball assignment. The Aussies will arrive in Lahore on January 28 for the short series.

Some of Australia’s Champions Trophy games were held in Pakistan last year.

Later this week, the Pakistani selectors will meet with captain Salman Ali Agha and head coach Mike Hesson to choose the team for both the T20 World Cup and the Australia series. Following PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s permission, the team will be announced the next week.
