Contrary to reports on Wednesday, the Mumbai Cricket Association has not yet received word from former India captain Rohit Sharma regarding his availability for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the country’s top 50-over tournament.
From December 25 to January 18, the Vijay Hazare Trophy will take place in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Jaipur, and Bengaluru. The Center of Excellence in Bengaluru will host the knockout stages.
The India ODI opener has not contacted them on the matter, according to a senior MCA official.
“There has been no communication as far as I’m aware,” a PTI report quoted the official as saying.
After scoring 73 in the second game of the three-match series, Rohit hit an unbeaten 121 in a game-winning effort against Australia in the third ODI. The former captain was named “Player of the Series” despite India’s 1-2 series defeat.
In the meantime, Rohit has been training regularly at the MCA’s BKC facility in Mumbai. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opener, joined him in training a few days ago before the latter joined the India team for the first Test match against South Africa in Kolkata.
Both Rohit and batting stalwart Virat Kohli have announced their retirement from Test and Twenty20 international cricket. The two superstars are anticipated to play for India in the three-match ODI series against South Africa, which will begin in Ranchi on November 30.
On December 3 and 6, respectively, the series’ second and third ODIs will take place at Raipur and Visakhapatnam.
