Sunil Kumar scored seven points and Ajit Chouhan and Sandeep scored super tens to help U Mumba defeat the Bengal Warriorz 48-29 at the SDAT Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium on Friday. Devank Dalal made history in the Chennai leg final, being the PKL’s fastest player to reach 500 raid points. However, his 12th consecutive Super 10 was ruined when his teammates did not support him.
Ajit Chouhan and Sandeep, U Mumba’s raiding pair, were formidable right from the start of their match, repeatedly breaking through the Warriorz defense to establish an early five-point lead. Under the leadership of Sunil and Zafardanesh, the defense unit effectively supported the offensive by applying pressure to the Warriorz raiders and causing mistakes at critical times.
Devank’s unprecedented achievement—becoming the fastest player in PKL history to reach 500 raid points—was the main focus of the early phase. But even with Devank’s individual skill and a couple of aggressive raids from Himanshu Narwal, the Warriorz were unable to keep up with U Mumba’s small lineup.
Throughout the first half, U Mumba remained in control and gradually increased their lead. As U Mumba’s onslaught put their opponents on the defensive, Ajit spearheaded the attack with Sandeep providing strong support. Anchored by Sunil Kumar, their defense remained cohesive and orderly. The highlight was when U Mumba gained the upper hand when Zafardanesh’s timely tackle on Manjeet led to an ALL OUT.
After reaching the 500-raid-point milestone, Devank demonstrated his class and added vital raid points, further solidifying his position as the Warriorz’s lone bright spot. Although Himanshu Narwal provided short-term assistance, the defense was unable to stop U Mumba’s attack. Bengal Warriorz was ahead 24–13 at the end of the first half thanks to U Mumba.
U Mumba strengthened their hold on the match by extending their first-half momentum into the second half. When Sunil’s well-timed tackle on Vishwas S resulted in another ALL OUT and increased U Mumba’s lead, it was a turning point. Their overall dominance demonstrated a confident and rhythmic style of play.
Although Devank and Himanshu Narwal put up a few valiant raids, they were unable to maintain their momentum. Manjeet’s Super Tackle gave the team a little boost, but U Mumba’s defense swiftly took back the initiative. Because Bengal’s defense was disorganized, U Mumba was able to control the pace and the field.
With a decisive victory, U Mumba tightened their grip in the last ten minutes and ended the game with authority. Bengal’s defense was always under duress as Ajit Chouhan and Sandeep kept up their precise raiding. U Mumba coasted to victory because of their composed, disciplined play, which kept them in control at all times.
Devank battled valiantly for the Warriorz to the very end. Manjeet and Himanshu Narwal offered fleeting bursts of opposition, but U Mumba’s defense held firm. The final moments were expensive due to Bengal’s defensive errors and incapacity to hold the opposition’s raiders. After a decisive and well-earned victory, U Mumba defeated Bengal Warriorz 48–29 at the end of play.
