Dabang Delhi K.C. defeated Gujarat Giants 39-33 on Friday at the SDAT Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium, completing the double. Akshit Dhull was his team’s standout player when Ashu Malik was out, scoring a Super 10 after coming off the bench.
For the Gujarat Giants, Himanshu Singh recorded a Super 10, and Mohammadreza Shadloui and Himanshu Jaglan both received High Fives. But it was insufficient for their team to cross the finish line.
Rakesh and Neeraj Narwal opened the scoring for their respective teams, making it a fast-paced start for both. The pace for a contested match was set by tackles from Surjeet Singh and Mohammadreza Shadloui. Rohit Nandal and Lucky Sharma helped the Gujarat Giants boost the ante, but Ajinkya Pawar’s Super Raid kept the score even at 9-9 at the end of the first quarter.
Neeraj Narwal recorded the game’s first ALL OUT, putting his team ahead by four points as the Giants were reduced to two men on the mat. Following a fiercely contested first ten minutes, the table-toppers started to establish their dominance. They took a nine-point lead before Visvanth’s Super Tackle gave the Giants the lead again.
But thanks to Neeraj Narwal, Ajinkya Pawar, and Surjeet Singh, Dabang Delhi K.C. maintained their lead, scoring 12 points in the next 10 minutes as opposed to Gujarat’s five. Near the end of the first half, which was controlled by their opponents, Himanshu Singh contributed four raid points for the Giants, bringing the score to 21–14.
Himanshu Jaglan’s Super Tackle opened the second half as the Gujarat Giants attempted to rally in this match. Shadloui quickly completed his High Five and reduced the deficit to three points with a handful of Super Tackles.
Fazel Atrachali’s tackle gave Dabang Delhi some breathing room, but it was short-lived as Himanshu Jaglan made another vital tackle to help the Giants tie the score with less than eight minutes remaining. Sandeep’s Super Tackle gave Dabang Delhi a slim lead again as the tackles kept coming in.
Akshit Dhull’s two-point raids kept Dabang Delhi ahead, while Himanshu Singh’s multi-point raid put the teams back where they started. With less than two minutes remaining, the youngster’s incredible Super Raid put his team ahead by five points (34-29).
Although Himanshu Singh gave it his all to keep the Giants in the running for a comeback, Akshit Dhull took center stage in the closing moments. He was Dabang Delhi’s last man on the mat during their penultimate raid, with just three points separating the two teams. He remained composed in the end, completing his Super 10 and securing a Super Raid for his team to guarantee Dabang Delhi K.C.’s victory 39–33 in a thrilling match.
