PKL: Patna Pirates beat Bengaluru Bulls 6-4 in tiebreaker

The Patna Pirates defeated the Bengaluru Bulls in an exciting 6-4 tiebreaker after the two teams were tied 38-38 at the end of regulation time in a Pro Kabaddi League match in New Delhi on Thursday.

With a Super 10, Ayan Lohchab took the lead, and Navdeep added four tackles to his total. Mandeep Kumar’s two-point raid was the crucial play in the tiebreaker.

The Bulls made an eleven-point comeback in regulation time, but Alireza’s ninth Super 10 was in vain. For their respective teams, the two raiders, Alireza and Ayan, scored first.

With neither team giving up an inch, Sanjay recorded the first tackle of the evening, and Ashish Birwal answered for the Pirates.

In a thrilling start that saw the Bengaluru Bulls maintain an 8–7 lead in the first ten minutes, Sudhakar M and Akash Shinde both made an impression for their respective teams.

In the game’s second quarter, the defenders quickly began to take control.

Deepak Sankar was a force on defense, while Navdeep’s Super Tackle was as effective for his team. With a tackle from Ankit Jaglan, the Pirates created a four-point lead, and Ankit Rana joined in.

Both raiders scored seven points in the first half as Ayan and Alireza engaged in a cagey sparring match. With the score at 16–13 at the half, the former made sure his team had a three-point advantage.

The Patna Pirates took the initiative to exert pressure on their opponents early in the second half. Ayan continued doing what he does best to assist his team inflict the first ALL OUT of the game and put his team in the driver’s seat, while Navdeep made a vital tackle on a do-or-die raid.

Ankit Rana then extended their lead to eleven points, 27-16, with a two-point raid. Alireza Mirzaian and Ayan both finished their Super 10s, and the latter kept the Bengaluru Bulls in the game even though the score was 28–18 with less than ten minutes remaining.

The Bulls roared back in six minutes thanks to raids by Ganesha Hanamantagol, Aashish Malik, and Alireza.

The Bulls defense then closed the margin to five points, but with less than three minutes remaining, Alireza’s ALL OUT put his team back in the game with a score of 30-28.

The Bulls subsequently tied the score thanks to Alireza, bringing the game to a close finish. Ayan opened up a two-point lead with a successful do-or-die raid before his penultimate raid of the game.

The Patna Pirates were forced to make one last raid after Alireza retaliated with a lightning-fast raid.

Despite his best efforts, Ayan was unable to seal the victory in regulation time. The two teams were tied at 38-38 when Manish took him down on the last raid, requiring a tiebreaker.

Both Sudhakar and Aashish Malik gave their teams the lead in the nerve-racking tiebreaker. The Patna Pirates had a big lead after Mandeep Kumar’s two-point raid, and they didn’t look back.
