PKL: Malik stars as Dabang Delhi down UP Yoddhas to go top

Dabang Delhi KC defeated UP Yoddhas 43-26 in Chennai on Friday, regaining their top position in the Pro-Kabaddi League standings. Fazel Atrachali led his team in a thorough performance with four tackle points, while Ashu Malik led the way with a Super 10.

Before Malik leveled the playing field for his team, Gagan Gowda set the tone for the match with a multi-point raid that gave his team an early two-point lead. Surjeet Singh made the game’s first tackle on Bhavani Rajput as the two teams were going toe to toe.

But within the first ten minutes, Shivam Chaudhary and Gagan Gowda gave UP Yoddhas an 8–6 lead. After Atrachali tackled Bhavani Rajput to start the second quarter, Malik did what he does best and led his team with the game’s first Super Raid. He then launched another multi-point raid, eliminating the Yoddhas and delivering an ALL OUT to put his team ahead 14–9.

With nine points in the first half, Malik led the assault for Dabang Delhi, and Gagan Gowda, with eight points, did the same for Yoddhas. Joginder Narwal’s team had a four-point lead at 17–13 after an exciting first half in which the pendulum swung one way and then the other. With a raid to start the second half, Malik extended Dabang Delhi’s lead and finished with his eighth Super 10 of the season.

They made sure there was some gap between themselves and their opponents, with Ajinkya Pawar also contributing. Atrachali helped his squad inflict a second ALL OUT by extending their margin to eight points.

Gagan Gowda finished his Super 10, but UP Yoddhas were having trouble catching up. With ten minutes remaining in the game, Delhi maintained a commanding nine-point lead thanks to contributions from Surjeet Singh and Ajinkya Pawar.

With four tackle points that evening, Atrachali just missed his High Five as his team finished with a 16-point victory, capping an incredible effort.
