PKL: Haryana Steelers edge out table-toppers Puneri Paltan in close contest

The Haryana Steelers defeated Puneri Paltan at the SMS Indoor Stadium in Jaipur on Friday thanks to a solid all-around performance. With a strong defensive performance and well-timed raids, the Steelers sealed the victory after displaying poise in crucial situations for the most of the game.

Rahul’s spectacular tackle in the first minute of play gave the Haryana Steelers a good start to the game. When Vinay produced a successful raid, they immediately doubled their lead, making it 2-0.

With another strong tackle from Rahul, the Steelers continued to apply pressure and increased their lead, building on their early momentum. In the first ten minutes, their defense appeared nimble and well-prepared. They jumped out to a 14–4 lead before the first half Time Out was ruled, demonstrating that their early dominance paid dividends as they gave their opponents an ALL OUT.

Pankaj Mohite’s successful raid to restart the game gave Puneri Paltan the lead, but Vinay quickly added another point to the Steelers’ total.

With just over five minutes remaining in the first half, the Steelers maintained their pace and increased their advantage to 17-9. They maintained their composure and dominance as they played a superb half-final, leading 19–10 at the interval.

The Paltan scored a fast point to start the second half, but the Steelers’ strong all-around play kept them in control. Vinay’s Super Raid, which increased the Steelers’ lead to ten points, was the pivotal moment. The Steelers had a 25-16 lead by the time the time out was called.

The Steelers maintained their lead after the restart as Vinay, who later finished his Super 10, added another raid point. But Pankaj Mohite, who also finished his Super 10, guided Puneri Paltan to a comeback, cutting the score to 21-26.

Thereafter, the Paltan executed an ALL OUT, scoring four vital points to cut the deficit to 25-27. Pankaj Mohite’s successful raid put the score at 26-27, but another Vinay attack from the Steelers gave them two points back. With a successful raid, Stuwart Singh kept the Paltan in the game, making it 29–30.

Shivam Patare completed the game with a two-point raid, making it 34-30, after the Steelers made a critical tackle in the last minute to increase their advantage to 32-29. The Haryana Steelers managed to hold on and win 34–30.
