Tim David’s explosive unbeaten 25-ball-70 has become the talking point with Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans lauding his big-hitting ability. But the Australian has credited RCB’s batting coach Dinesh Karthik, whose inputs helped him prepare for these conditions.
Put in to bat at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB got off to a great start with Phil Salt scoring 46, while Virat Kohli who lloked in great touch fell on 28. But after that Devdutt Padikkal (50), Rajat Patidar (48*) and David blew away CSK’s bowling attack.
David hit eight sixes and three boundaries as RCB put up a massive total of 250 for 3 before bowling out CSK for 207.
“I do not change my game much, but I have confidence from all the preparation that I do. It is nice to work with DK (Dinesh Karthik is referred to), he is an experienced player in these conditions. I have been in the IPL for a few years and with that kind of preparation, you don’t put pressure on yourself to perform,” David said at the post-match presentation.
David was pleased with his performance and said such knocks don’t happen every day.
“Very pleased – it does not always happen that way. The skipper (Rajat Patidar, who scored 48 off 19 balls) was smoking it. And I just took some balls off him – it was super fun. Going in to bat with Jitesh (Sharma) and (Romario) Shepherd behind me really gives me confidence,” he said.
RCB skipper Patidar also lauded David’s innings and said: “He (David) is a specialist, and one of the best finishers. He is consistent and one of the best finishers I have ever seen.”
