Manu Bhaker finishes 4th in 25m pistol at Asian Shooting Championship

In the women’s 25-meter pistol event at the Asian Shooting Championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, on Monday, Indian shooter Manu Bhaker, a two-time Olympic medallist, was placed fourth.

Esha Singh, Bhaker’s compatriot, finished sixth with 18 points in the eight-woman final. Thu Vinh Trinh, the bronze medallist from Vietnam, shot 29; Bhaker shot 25, four less.

After being tied at 39 points, Chinese shooters Yueyue Zhang and Jiaruixuan Xiao won the gold and silver medals, respectively, with the former winning 4-3 in the shoot-off.

With a combined total of 1749, the Indian team consisting of Bhaker, Esha, and Simranpreet Kaur Brar took home the bronze, trailing only China and South Korea.

Esha finished ahead of Bhaker and the two Chinese medallists, Xiao and Zhang, to win the women’s 25-meter pistol qualifying.

Following the accuracy stage, Bhaker, who had previously won bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol individual and team competitions, finished fourth in the women’s 25m pistol qualifying round, while Esha came in second.
