
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is scheduled to kick off a friendly football game that legend Lionel Messi will attend while in Hyderabad on December 13.
However, details of the event would be confirmed in a few days, official sources indicated on Monday.
The game would be held at Hyderabad’s Uppal Stadium as part of the Congress government’s festivities to commemorate its second anniversary.
Revanth Reddy, a passionate football fan and player, is likely to open the match by kicking the ball. On Sunday night, he and a group of players practiced the game.
Last year, Reddy participated in a friendly football game with University of Hyderabad (UoH) students.
To commemorate two years in office, the Congress administration will host festivities from December 1 to December 13.
According to an official statement, Reddy will personally meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and extend an invitation to them to attend the Telangana Rising Global Summit, which will take place on December 8 and 9 at the projected Bharat Future City.
Reddy added that while the state celebrates its progress, his government will unveil the Telangana Rising Vision Document 2047.
The CM on November 28 stated he is looking forward to welcoming Argentine football sensation Lionel Messi to the ‘GOAT Tour to India 2025’ next month.
After the first part of his tour in Kolkata, the World Cup-winning captain will be in Hyderabad.
