Legends react as India outclass Pakistan, Sehwag slams rivals’ ’17th century approach’

Sachin Tendulkar lauded Team India’s performance after it thrashed Pakistan in a Group A match at the ICC T20 World Cup in Colombo on Sunday.

Another Indian batting legend Virender Sehwag dubbed the thrashing as “full kambal kuttai”, after India outclassed Pakistan by 61 runs to qualify to the Super Eight stage.

Batting legend Tendulkar took to social media and congratulated Suryakumar Yadav-led team for their all-round performance.

“The Powerplay was where India took the game away from them. Ishan Kishan in the first innings, and the clinical bowling we saw in the second innings, made all the difference. We were always in the driver’s seat. India rocked it tonight,” Tendulkar wrote on ‘X’.

This was India’s third successive win in this edition of the T20 World Cup, after having defeated USA by 29 runs and Namibia by 93 runs in their first two league games of the tournament.

Sehwag came down heavily on Pakistan’s show in the match and said that they lost “because of their 17th century approach to T20 cricket”.

“Ishan Kishan played like a real Dhurandhar. Among all minnows Pakistan looked like the easiest to beat for Bharat because of their 17th century approach to T20 cricket, and they have taken a proper beating as usual. Full kambal kuttai,” Sehwag wrote on his ‘X’ handle.

After Sunday’s win, India have extended their head-to-head record to 8-1 against Pakistan in T20 World Cup matches. Put in to bat, India scored 175 for 7 in 20 overs, thanks to the blazing knock by opener Ishan Kishan, who scored 77 off 40 balls. Chasing the target, Pakistan were bundled out for 114 in 18 overs.

India will take on the Netherlands in their final Group A league match on Wednesday (Feb 18). On the same day, Pakistan are scheduled to play against Namibia.

India currently lead the Group A standings, having won all three of their matches so far. Pakistan, meanwhile, have slipped to third place after two wins and one defeat. USA are placed second with two victories and two losses.
