Kolkata Knight Riders fans are furious after their team mentor Dwayne Bravo attended CSK’s fan event “Roar’26” at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.
Bravo had represented the Chennai outfit for several years until he moved to KKR as a mentor in IPL 2025. The fans questioned the timing of Bravo’s presence at the CSK event when his own team (KKR) is hit by injury crisis before the start of IPL 2026.
Several KKR fans also questioned the West Indian’s priorities when the team is struggling to find replacements for some of the injured players. The event was attended by current CSK stars, former players as they inducted former India player Suresh Raina and Australia legend Matthew Hayden into the franchise’s first-ever Hall of Fame.
KKR’s pace department has been severly hit by injury related issues. Harshit, their star pacer, who is recovering from a knee surgery is unlikely to recover and join the squad. Another India pacer Akash Deep has been ruled out while Sri Lanka quick Matheesha Pathirana’s availability is uncertain.
When Bravo’s images and videos flooded the social media, KKR fans were furious with one branding him as “a CSK spy in the KKR camp”. Another fan commented on X, saying KKR was already short of players and now are without a mentor figure.
There was another KKR fan who urged CSK to sign Bravo permanently, and continued that Bravo adds no value to the Kolkata franchise and only brings embarrassment to the side.
On the other hand, CSK fans welcomed the presence of their former player at the event. One X user said that seeing Bravo in CSK colours felt right.
