IPL lowest totals list: Defending champions RCB hold unwanted record

The T20 format is not always about batting prowess as there have been instances where the bowlers have had a great day in the office. In IPL too there have been many matches over the years where teams have been skittled to low scores.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hold the record for the lowest team total in IPL, when they were all out for only 49 while chasing Kolkata Knight Riders target of 131 runs in IPL 2017.

RCB did well to restrict KKR to 131 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata but their run-chase never took off as they were bundled out in just 9.4 overs. Kedar Jadhav top-scored for RCB with nine runs while three of their batters were dismissed on duck. Moreover, this is the only occasion when a team has been dismissed under 50 runs.

Before RCB, Rajasthan Royals held the unwanted record for the lowest total in IPL history. Back in 2009, while chasing 134 against RCB, Rajasthan were bowled out for just 58 runs. That record stood for eight years before RCB went past it.

Interestingly, RCB have struggled more than any other team when it comes to low scores. They are the only side in IPL history to be bowled out four times for 70 or less.
