IPL Auction: Cameron Green blames manager ‘stuff up’ for bowling status error

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green on Sunday explained that he would be available to bowl in the IPL, claiming that his manager’s “stuff-up” caused him to be mistakenly enrolled as a batter for the mini auction next week.

The 26-year-old will return to international cricket as a specialist batter in June after missing the 2025 IPL season while recovering from back surgery. He has now been given the all-clear to bowl, though, and has been participating in the current Ashes series between Australia and England.

“I’ll be good to bowl. I don’t know if my manager would like to hear this, but there was a stuff-up on his end,” Green was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

“He didn’t mean to say ‘batter’. I think he accidentally selected the wrong box. It was pretty funny how it’s all played out, but it was actually a stuff-up on his end.”

The tall all-rounder, who played for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2024 and the Mumbai Indians in 2023, is one of the most well-known players in the auction and is probably in the greatest demand.

Green has set a starting price of Rs 2 crore for the auction. Rather than being included in the all-rounders category, he is included under the batters’ category. The auction is scheduled for Tuesday in Abu Dhabi.

“I’m sure I will be (watching), with a few other guys. They’re always good fun to watch. It’s a bit of a lottery where you might go, but also who might be in your team, so it’s always been fun to watch,” he added.
