Aussie seamer Josh Hazlewood is currently awaiting medical clearance to play in the 2026 Indian Premier League.
According to a report in Hindustan Times on Friday, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowler is still being monitored by his physiotherapist due to hamstring and Achilles tendon issues.
Although it was first anticipated that the 35-year-old would recuperate in time for the 19th IPL, sources have since verified that Hazlewood is still seeking medical team approval to play in the IPL.
“He is still under the physio care, and his participation in the IPL depends on whether he gets the clearance or not. There’s still plenty of time, but it’s a wait-and-watch situation for now,” the HT report quoted a source as saying.
With 22 wickets in 12 games, Hazlewood was RCB’s leading wicket-taker during their championship run last season.
He then suffered an injury-plagued season. He missed the first Ashes Test due to a right hamstring injury sustained while playing for New South Wales in November. A subsequent Achilles injury prevented him from participating in the Ashes series and the T20 World Cup.
In 39 IPL games, Hazlewood has taken 57 wickets at an economy rate of 8.27 and an average of 20.98.
