In an incredible turn of events, Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thushara, who had sued his cricket board for refusing to grant him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) so he could play in the IPL, has now apologized to the governing body and is thinking of dropping his case.
According to sources close to Sri Lanka Cricket, Thushara apologized to SLC via email, stating that he had no intention of “cause inconvenience to the governing body”.
He was “seeking fairness and justice” because he believed he had received unfair treatment.
Thushara’s request for legal intervention to allow him to play in the 2026 IPL will be met with objections, the SLC informed the District legal in Colombo on Thursday.
In order to get Sri Lanka Cricket to give a No Objection Certificate, the 31-year-old had filed a case. His request was turned down by the SLC due to failed fitness tests. The next hearing was scheduled on April 23 after the court granted the SLC plea.
Since 2022, Thushara has made thirty appearances in T20 international competitions. Having played in the IPL in 2024 and 2025, he was scheduled to play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) this season.
