Shubman Gill, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, will play against the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2026 match in Delhi on Wednesday after recovering from the muscle spasm that kept him out of the previous game.
The GT captain has been deemed fit to play, according to Gill’s opening partner Sai Sudharsan.
The Gujarat Titans will be hoping that Gill’s comeback will give them the boost they need to recover after two consecutive IPL 2026 losses. They must contend with the formidable Delhi Capitals, who have won two straight games to start the season.
“He is absolutely fine and will play,” PTI quoted Sudharsan as saying on the eve of the game, on Tuesday.
The Titans are considered a top heavy hitting team. After Sudharsan laid the platform with a fiery start, the middle order in the previous game was unable to complete the task. The squad has a strong belief in the middle order, which consists of Glenn Phillips and Washington Sundar, according to the left-hander.
“If someone from the top three batters plays longer, it’s always a great thing for the team. We believe in our middle order. This is the team which played last year and we qualified. So it’s just two games and I and the whole team believes that our middle order will win games,” he said.
Given the current state of T20 cricket, Sudharsan believes that a batter must evolve every six months. Over the previous two seasons, he has been one of the IPL’s most prolific run scorers.
“Definitely as the sport is evolving and the T20 batting is getting greater every season or even every five, six months. It’s very important for me to learn from it and be versatile enough to have that in my kitty and equip myself with that.”
On preparation for IPL 2026, he added: “Nothing in particular but the biggest awareness I had was if we are going to chase something really big, how are we going to approach the innings. So just awareness point and mindset point and what decisions we can take. I was working on that before the tournament.
“And having your mind sorted is the biggest thing. I put a lot of time on that. I do yoga and I do a lot of meditation, visualization to keep myself mentally fit,” added Sudharsan.
