Australian pacer Nathan Ellis was ruled out of the five-time champion Chennai Super Kings’ upcoming IPL season due to a hamstring injury, a franchise official revealed on Thursday.
The 31-year-old was supposed to lead their pace attack, particularly since the Kolkata Knight Riders had signed Sri Lankan Matheesha Pathirana.
“Yes, he is out. We have not yet decided on the replacement,” PTI quoted a CSK official as saying.
After four seasons with Punjab Kings, Ellis, who had taken 19 wickets from 17 IPL games, was acquired by CSK for Rs 2-crore at the 2025 players auction and was retained ahead of the 2026 season.
A replacement has not yet been announced by CSK.
On March 30 in Guwahati, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led team will take on the Rajasthan Royals to start their campaign.
