IPL 2026 Auction: 240-strong Indian pool in 350 players shortlisted, Quinton de Kock added

In the Indian Premier League auction, which will take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16, 350 cricketers—240 Indians and 110 foreign players—will go under the hammer. Quinton de Kock, a wicketkeeper-batter from South Africa who recently ended his ODI retirement, is on the final list.

At a basic price of Rs 1 crore, De Kock is a late addition to the list. Steve Smith, an Australian batsman with a base price of Rs 2 crore, is also on the list. Smith made his last IPL appearance in 2021.

For the Player Auction, 1390 players registered in total. Before 350 players were ultimately selected to compete for the 77 spots available across the ten teams in the 19th edition of the largest T20 competition in the world, the number was reduced to 1005.

Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan, two hitters from Mumbai and India, are among the initial group of players in the auction; both have set their base prices at Rs 75 lakh.

The IPL’s list includes two Australians, Cameron Green and Jake Fraser-McGurk, as well as Devon Conway of New Zealand, a former Chennai Super Kings opener, and David Miller of South Africa, all of whom have base prices of Rs 2 crore.

After being released by the Kolkata Knight Riders, Venkatesh Iyer listed himself for a base price of Rs 2 crore.

KKR, the three-time champions, will enter the auction with the biggest purse of Rs 64.3 crores, followed by CSK, the five-time champions, with Rs 43.4 crores. At Rs 25.5 crores, Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have won the IPL once, hold the third-biggest purse.
