Despite missing the final two Ashes Tests due to a left side strain, fast bowler Jofra Archer was named in England’s provisional T20 World Cup squad on Tuesday.
For the first time, pacer Josh Tongue has been called up to the T20 team. Harry Brook will head the 15-man team for the marquee competition, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka starting on February 7.
After suffering an injury during the third Ashes Test in Adelaide earlier this month, Archer will miss the warm-up tour to Sri Lanka next month in order to continue his recuperation.
Starting on January 22, Brydon Carse will take Archer’s place in Sri Lanka for three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 internationals.
For the first time since December 2023, Zak Crawley is back in the ODI team.
