India blaze past 209 in 15.2 overs against New Zealand, shatter Pakistan’s T20I run chase record

India defeated New Zealand in Raipur on Friday, chasing down 209 runs in only 15.2 overs, shattering Pakistan’s record for the fastest 200-plus run chase in T20 Internationals.

With this feat, India overtook Pakistan, who had achieved New Zealand’s 205-run target in 16 overs last year. Ishan Kishan’s scorching 32-ball 76, which featured 11 fours and four sixes, and captain Suryakumar Yadav’s undefeated 37-ball 82, which featured 9 fours and 4 sixes, helped India win by 7 wickets.

Additionally, this was India’s second-most successful 200-run chase in international cricket and their sixth in the format. With seven successful chases in T20Is totaling more than 200, Australia tops the list.

Prior to Friday, India’s fastest 200-run chase in Twenty20 Internationals occurred in Hyderabad in 2019 when the Men in Blue chased down a 208-run mark in 18.4 overs against the West Indies.

India, will start their T20 World Cup defence next month, lead the five-match series against the Kiwis 2-0. India won the first match of the series by 48 runs on Wednesday in Nagpur.
