In the latest ICC list for T20I batters released on Wednesday, swashbuckler Ishan Kishan moved up to a career-high second spot, trailing top-ranked Abhishek Sharma by just four points, thanks to his outstanding T20 World Cup campaign.
Following his lightning-fast half-century against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup final, Abhishek maintained his lead at the top. His nearest competitor is now fellow left-hander Ishan Kishan, who moved up two spots to second overall after scoring 317 runs in the competition.
After some dominating knocks during the T20 World Cup, Kishan (871 points) set a new career-high rating, trailing Abhishek (875 points) by just four rating points. New Zealander Tim Seifert (up four spots to sixth) and England’s Jacob Bethell (up 17 rungs to 16th) also improved to their best rankings of their careers.
After the global event, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan overtook India’s Varun Chakravarthy as the top bowler in the T20I rankings.
Rashid (753), whose side Afghanistan were eliminated from the event at the group league stage, has surpassed Chakravarthy (740 points), whose mystery was solved by the majority of the world’s best hitters.
While Adil Rashid (up one spot to fourth), Jasprit Bumrah (up one spot to sixth), and Axar Patel (up six slots to 17th) were rewarded for some respectable efforts during the T20 World Cup with some striking gains, Chakravarthy fell to second as Rashid claimed the No. 1 ranking despite not playing any games over the past week.
Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza and India star Hardik Pandya both achieved new career-high ratings this week while holding the top two slots in the T20I all-rounder rankings, indicating that the competition at the top of the rankings remained close. In the latest list, Shivam Dube, who was ranked ninth, has fallen two spots to 11th.
