At least five venues in India and two in Sri Lanka are expected to host matches during the 2026 T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place from February 7 to March 8.
Depending on Pakistan’s performance in the competition, either Ahmedabad or Colombo will host the championship match. According to the agreement made with the ICC and BCCI, Pakistan would play all of its matches in Sri Lanka.
According to a report in ESPNCricinfo stated that although the whole schedule has not yet been finalized, the ICC has selected the timeframe and communicated it to member boards.
It will follow the same format as the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies, where 20 teams were split up into four groups of five each, followed by the semifinals and Super Eight stage.
With 15 teams confirmed for the ICC event, including defending champions India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, USA, West Indies, New Zealand, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and the Netherlands, Italy has secured their first berth.
Three teams will advance from the Asia and East Asia Pacific qualifiers, and two more will advance from the Africa qualifiers.
